The scheme consists of 85 affordable rented homes for existing residents of the Estate. Of this total, ten are wheelchair units and all homes meet Lifetime Homes Standard. They are also on average 10% bigger than existing rented accommodation.
Inspace Partnership Ltd were appointed to construct the block. Work commenced on Monday 10th March 2008 and these homes will be handed over to local residents to move into in the autumn of 2009.
New Landlord for Clapham Park Residents
The multi-million pound regeneration of the Clapham Park Estates has been approved by the Department for Communities and Local Government.

Residents on the Clapham Park Estate, which borders on Brixton, Clapham and Streatham saw the ownership and management of their homes transferred from the London Borough of Lambeth to Clapham Park Homes, the new community led housing association, on 27 June 2006.
The transfer will see residents benefiting from an investment over the next ten years of approximately £500 million in the Clapham Park area to completely refurbish over 50% of the existing council homes, demolish and re-provide the remaining 50% of these homes, introduce shared ownership accommodation, and new private homes for sale. Residents will also benefit from a new retail hub, library, healthy living centre, primary school, youth centre and central park, as part of the redevelopment.
The transfer follows a successful stock transfer ballot in March 2005, plus CPH obtaining outline planning approval in March 2006.
Joe Moll, (Chair of Clapham Park Homes and a resident of the Clapham Park Estates) said: "I am delighted that the government has approved the stock transfer which was so strongly supported by residents in a ballot in March 2005. This is an endorsement of our belief that residents can play a significant role in transforming their community into an area that they can be proud of."
Owen Thompson, Chief Executive of Clapham Park Homes said: "The stock transfer delivers one of the most ambitious development projects in Lambeth and London. The Mayor has commented that it's one of the best Master Plans that he has come across since taking office. It is a scheme that represents four and a half years of hard work for the residents of Clapham Park, achieved with an extraordinary sense of focus and determination."
Outline Planning Permission Granted
Clapham Park Homes was granted Outline Planning Permission by Lambeth Council on 14 March 2006. The decision was reached by a unanimous planning committee and indicates that the planning committee is satisfied with the proposed access route to Clapham Park and the overall size of the Master Plan.
A more detailed planning application by Clapham Park Homes will need to be submitted and granted before construction works can begin.
Owen Thompson, Chief Executive of Clapham Park Homes said: "We are pleased to get outline planning permission for our Master Plan. We will be working closely with the Council to achieve stock transfer as soon as possible so we can start transforming the area into a healthy, safe and welcoming place."
MacArthur House Update
Over 80 residents attended a fun day at MacArthur House in September 2005. The event was organised to celebrate the completion of the refurbished block and to thank residents for their cooperation and patience in allowing contractors to carry out works to their home and communal areas.
Works to the communal areas included a new video entry phone system, a new entrance to the block and the replacment of the brick wall surrounding the building with toughened glass, all designed to ensure residents feel safer in their homes. There is also a brand new underground refuse system, new balconies, windows and doors and within residents' homes there are new kitchens, bathrooms and improved heat insulation.
On the day, children took part in face painting and a card-making workshop and everyone enjoyed the food, drinks and music. Residents also saw a demonstration on how to operate the new underground refuse bins.
Lambeth Planning Consultation
Residents were consulted on the draft development guidelines in August and September 2005. The guidelines were prepared by Lambeth Council to guide the redevelopment of Clapham Park and were based on the Council’s planning policies. The guidelines were finalised to include much of the comments/points raised during the public consultation.
New Chair for Clapham Park Homes
Joe Moll was elected chair of Clapham Park Homes in June 2005. Joe has lived in Clapham Park for more than seven years, has been on the Clapham Park Homes Board since the beginning, and works for local MP and Parliamentary Private Sectary to the Prime Minister, Keith Hill.
