Advice and useful tips
Satellite and Cable
If you’d like to install cable or satellite TV in your home, you’ll need our written permission and you may also need planning permission. Lambeth council will be able to give you advice about this.
All our new properties will have an integrated satellite and cable service.
Rubbish
Please be considerate to your neighbours when getting rid of your rubbish, and make sure you put it into sealed bags inside the dustbin or rubbish chute. Please don’t leave it in communal areas.
If you need to get rid of a large item such as a cooker, washing machine or mattress, then contact customer services who will arrange for it to be taken away.
Infestations
If you notice an infestation of mice, rats, cockroaches, ants or wasps, then you’ll need to deal with it yourself. If the problem is severe you should contact Lambeth Council’s Environmental Health Department.
Condensation
Problems with damp are often caused by condensation, where warm, moist air hits a cold surface. You may notice this in bathrooms or kitchens most often but it can affect rooms anywhere in your home. You may notice black stains on the walls and paintwork, which will need to be washed off from time to time. If you have proper ventilation, insulation and heating, however, you should be able to reduce or even completely prevent condensation. If the problem persists and is severe, please contact customer services.
Home Improvements
If you’d like to carry out improvements or alterations to your home, you’ll need to get our written permission. If you replace existing fittings, such as central heating and showers, then these become our property and you won’t be able to remove them if you leave your home and give up your tenancy. In some instances you may be entitled to compensation for some of the improvements you’ve made. Our customer services will be able to tell you if you are eligible.
